after a successful initial run of the BLACK METAL HISTORY MONTH shirts, my fine friends over at METAL INJECTION are expanding their wardrobe. you can now own your very own “COLD DEAD HAND” shirt featuring the illustration i did a couple of years back with a severed hand holding a syringe. if you’re looking for a new shirt for summer that tells people, “i’m metal enough to wear a red shirt,” be sure to pick one up at their merch store.
more to come!

sorry for the lack of updates lately. i have been hard at work, but i’m either doing design only stuff or i’m not allowed to show what i’m working on yet (bummer). for the time being, however, i can finally show the merch i put together for MIKE “GUNFACE” MCKENZIE’S side project UNRAVELLER, available now over at indiemerch!
using the art from the free release “kinship synthesis,” i put together two shirt designs. one shows the two 8bit figures and nes style type underneath while the other is the pentagram nintendo seal that can be seen on the bottom right of the cartridge sticker. if you would be so kind please head over to his merch store now and pick up a shirt. the more he makes off of this the more incentive he has to keep making 8bit music and last year “kinship synthesis” easily made it on to my top 10 albums of the year.
more to come, including work for good pals metal injection and metalsucks. keep your eyes peeled!

hey kids-

i am fortunate to once again be able to present the recent work that i have done for the biggest and best death metal band on this entire planet. i present to you a logo and two new shirt designs for the almighty CANNIBAL CORPSE!

since next year is going to be the 25th anniversary of the band as an entity, i was asked to put together an update to their already memorable logo with all of the necessary information. the man himself alex webster suggested that it be reminiscent of a kind of circular rubber stamp, so i did my best to make it both brutal and recognizable to the audience as possible. expect to see this logo on quite a bit of stuff in the upcoming year.

additionally i was asked to put together two more shirt designs for the death metal masters. based on the songs “followed home then killed” and “rabid,” i made sure i had a lot of fun putting these together. both were done in a week’s time and in that week i spent probably 20+ hours in front of the computer laboring over the details and worrying about the outcome. i did my best to keep the style as an amalgamation of older cannibal corpse covers (think “the bleeding,” “gallery of suicide,” etc.), 1950’s horror comics, and of course my own personal touch. i hope you find that they live up to the standard of the band. after such a positive internet reception to the last one it’ll be a hard act to follow. be sure to pick up all of these shirts at their official merch store.

i also want to thank mr. chuck andrews again for making this possible for me. i can never really express how truly grateful i am that i was not only asked to contribute to the cannibal corpse camp, but that i was asked again. chuck is the man, i love you buddy.

though it’s close to the end of 2012 i have at least a couple more pieces that will make it to the blog. i hope this all finds you well, please keep your eyes peeled for more and for now be sure to blast cannibal corpse’s “TORTURE” for the rest of the day!

a new shirt has hit the markets for your buying pleasure! i present to you the newest design for chicago instrumental rockers PELICAN. by my calculations this is the eighth shirt that i’ve done for these guys (holy shit) and it hopefully won’t be the last.
the only stipulation that i’ve ever gotten for designing pelican merch is that they’re not partial to having people on their merch. somehow i’ve always taken it as an excuse to draw some weird animals that i would otherwise never get a chance to incorporate into my other work. though i often like to tie in song titles with my imagery i decided to break from the script and draw something that i felt would look good as a shirt on its own. i realized i haven’t draw any sea creatures for these guys, and since i have an affinity for incorporating iconography into my work i came up with a hammerhead shark infused with the power of thor via the mjölnir. as if sharks weren’t terrifying enough, now there’s a godlike shark. it’s a four color print on blue stock and is available in both shirt and hoodie form. be sure to pick yours up here, along with the tapeworm, gorilla, and butterfly coffin shirts i did for them as well.
i’m awaiting approval for another design, but for now sit tight and i’ll post updates when i can. more to come!

happy black friday! it is with extreme enthusiasm and pride that i get to finally show off a shirt i designed a little while ago for one of the greatest bands out there. i present to you the new shirt design for THE premiere death metal band, CANNIBAL CORPSE!
based on their song “caged…contorted,” this design features imagery involving some poor bastard’s worst day ever. i think the final tally turned out to be seven colors and is one of the most elaborate designs i’ve done to date. you can pick it up at their ONLINE STORE right now. the best part about this is that this is not going to be my last design for them. guaranteed! i have two more in the works for them and based on the positive response from people on their facebook page i hope many more are to come after that. as always i am quite humbled and extremely appreciative for being involved in this project and can’t thank chuck andrews enough for the opportunity.
based on what i’m working on this is going to be one busy holiday season for me. if you would like to help me out please check out the holiday sale i have going on at my online store. everything is really priced to move but it won’t last long. more to come!

it is with great pride and excitement that i present to you my shirt design for one of pennsylvania’s greatest bands and one of our best kept secrets, ALL ELSE FAILED. if you don’t believe me, look them up right now. seriously. i must admit that i am quite embarrassed as this was supposed to be done in time for their recent shows, but due to extreme circumstances i had to keep pushing it back until it was just too late to get it done on time. regardless, i’m still beyond thrilled to be able to say that i have worked for these guys and hope to do more in the future.
this was a job was offered to me by mike barone of WAR TORN RECORDS / GRINDCORE HOUSEwho was beyond understanding with this. this guy has done some really amazing things for both philly and the hardcore scene and i can’t thank him enough for the opportunity. he pitched the concept of being buried alive and let me run with it. i admit i had a bit of difficulty as the idea of being buried alive automatically brings to my mind more of a gore / death metal mentality rather than one normally associated with hardcore aesthetics. as always rather than running from the idea i decided to stick with it and came up with an idea that was more melancholy and iconic rather than brutal. i’m happy with the outcome, but as always i welcome and input from those willing to share.
as always there’s more to come, so please keep your eyes peeled!

for those of you who weren’t able to catch NASUM on the final leg of their final tour through europe and were looking to get the tour shirt i did for them, today’s your lucky day (sort of). as noted on their blog they have launched their online merch store for all of the tour leftovers that they have available. included in the store is the tour shirt that i did, but only in XL. so smaller builds are out of luck, but if you’re big enough for the task be sure to pick one up as well as everything else from their store.
more to come, including a new piece posted tomorrow!

i’m closing out this week with a bang: i present a new design for new jersey’s FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY. based on the song “the false prophet” (what can i say, i work with what i know), this shirt will be available only on their ESTORE starting at the end of the month. as soon as the link is live i’ll be sure to post it here. i’ve already been asked to start thinking of another shirt design for them, so hopefully this is the first of a line of designs i’ll be fortunate enough to do. if you’re in the philadelphia area in october be sure to see them live at broad street ministry with THE ACACIA STRAIN, CRUEL HAND, I DECLARE WAR, NO BRAGGING RIGHTS, and one of my current heavy rotations AGITATOR. come see me either be really old or really dumb.

more to come next week! i promise!

how many of you have heard this when asked to do merch for a super abrasive, heavy, anti-melodic musical project that’s been around longer than you’ve been alive? anyone? that’s what i thought. and yet this sentence describes the beginning of the design process for noise godfather MERZBOW.
guy kozowyk of the red chord / black market activities fame contacted me as a representative of his employer INDIE MERCH. he just signed a deal for the japanese noise project to release shirts available through their online store. creating an image for a band with no lyrics and a back catalogue decades in length is quite daunting and to make matters even stranger, masami akita (the man behind merzbow) described to guy his affinity for our feathered friends in conjunction with his strong feelings concerning animal rights. for those of you who clicked the merzbow link above you’ll notice that it takes you to his personal tumblr displaying his painted renditions of chickens. rather than trying to shift away from chickens for something more traditionally gloomy like a raven, i made it a point to come up with a design that made a non-ironic brutal chicken.
above is the final result. i feel like i’ve been working with circles quite a bit thematically lately and this definitely played into that. this was also a good way to exercise working in one color, something i find myself appreciating more and more especially if i have to print the final result. hopefully i’ll be able to continue to work for merzbow in the future but i am happy to be able to add him to my roster of clients and cannot thank guy nearly enough for the opportunity. as soon as this design goes up for sale i’ll be sure to post a link for you to spend your hard earned money.
i also just wrapped up a shirt design for a huge client this past friday, so keep your eyes open for that. i promise that it’s a doozy. feel free to guess who it may be. more to come!
