hey kids-
here’s the latest cover i designed for long time client IRISH VOODOO RECORDS, the 7” for puerto rico’s KDC entitled “naive to the bone.” the only direction given for this was to depict a pair of dirty, weathered looking hands. the bone wasn’t meant to be in relation to the album title, i’ve just always been interested in drawing naturally formed shapes and it seemed to work well for the composition. the spread goes from the front to back cover. be sure to get your copy here.

hey kids-
it’s been a while, but i’m back with a new print for super best friends ROSETTA. it’s a two color (glow in the dark white ink and black ink) print on 6” x 6” white stock.
the idea comes from the original lyrical content when a determinism of morality was still being written. armine and i sat down a while ago and he told me that fireflies factored into what he was writing, but after a while they didn’t really remain a part of the project. fast forward to a few weeks ago: i was asked to come up with a new print for them, something that would be 6” x 6”. it was suggested that i take the firefly idea to completion, which gave me an interesting idea. i bought some glow in the dark white ink and factored it into the design. the idea is that when you look at the print in the light all you notice is the black lineart of the firefly, but when you look at it in the dark the bulb starts to glow which highlights the lower parts of the design. the left image shows a mock up of the print in the light, the right image mocked up for appearing in the dark.
these will be available tomorrow at rosetta’s performance at the first unitarian church with old man gloom, james plotkin and argonauts. info for the show can be found here. even if you don’t pick up a print you should be at that show because it will more than likely melt a few faces. i’ll more than likely be hanging around the rosetta merch table.

hey kids-
so i didn’t get to upload something last friday to wrap up my week of updates. nuts. to make up for it, here’s a new blog update to start out the week.
this is a collaboration with hetero lifemate JAMES HEIMER for sunday’s YOUNG WIDOWS, LADDER DEVILS, and PYGMY LUSH show at kung fu necktie. it’s a three color print on chipboard at 18” x 24”. this was an interesting experience because though we live not that far away circumstance forced us to work on this via internet only. it took a few back and forth emails to get this down, but i’m really happy not only with how this turned out, but the evolution of the piece from the original idea.
more to come this week! and if i were you, go see this show.

hey kids-
fourth blog update this week! for today i have two designs for the almighty PELICAN. i’m finally posting this after having finished it months ago. i held off because i had hopes of doing another design, but i’ve been so busy that it’s been put on the back burner for the moment.
the first is an all new design that was done this year revolving around the song title “parasite colony.” pelican is an interesting group to work for as i can’t fall back on lyrics to coddle me along. this can be both frustrating and liberating as i have such a wide field of imagery to work with. the second is a design that i finished a couple of years ago but never got used because team pelican took some time off before it could be used. it’s not based on any song titles, but it was more of an exercise of how i can mess with logos before it becomes too much. both, however, were picked up by the band. they’re on tour in europe right now i believe, but will be playing a few days in the states during the southern lord showcase tour. if you see these available be sure to help both myself and the band out by picking one or two up.
tomorrow i close out the week. more to come!

hey kids-
so here’s a design i did for local good great dudes GHOLAS. i’ve known them and their asshole drummer dave for the past four or so years now. their bassist john asked me to do a design for them and after i got done dragging my feet i was able to put this together. they’re working on a new album revolving around dune. dave wanted me to read the book to get a better understanding of the story, but he gave me too much credit as i’m practically illiterate. instead i watched the movie and noticed that david lynch has the same fascination i do with hands. i wanted to make a design that alludes to dune, with the square representing the pain box and the two circles representing the two moons of arrakis, without screaming its attachment. plus i love drawing hands. be sure to pick up this shirt here, or get off your ass and see them at a show where they’ll have this and a poster version for sale.
i musn’t fear; fear is the mindkiller. more to come this week!
